Dr. Felix Deku is the Betsy and Greg Hatton Assistant Professor in Neuroengineering at the Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact. Dr. Deku graduated first-class honors from the University of Cape Coast in Ghana with a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology and biotechnology. He earned his master’s and doctorate degrees in biomedical engineering from The University of Texas at Dallas. He was the head of electrode engineering at a neurotechnology startup Braingrade, and was formerly the Director of Microfabrication at Neuralink Corp, a company building fully implantable high-density neural interfaces for paralyzed patients. Dr. Deku is interested in the development of chronically reliable neural interfaces for human use. He is also interested in understanding the physiological effects of neuromodulation and their correlations to functional benefit.
